Sound familiar?
Your client asked about PEO.
Now it's part of the plan.
Advisors hear about PEOs during planning reviews, retirement plan conversations and exit planning. Here's what advisors tell us most, and where a structured approach to PEO for financial advisors helps.
“A PEO moved my client's 401(k) to its own plan.”
Many PEOs bundle a multiple employer 401(k). If the client switches without checking, the plan can move with it. That's why we show which PEOs allow a 401(k) carve-out, so the retirement plan stays where it serves the client best.
“My client asks about PEOs, and I share a few names and hope.”
Most advisors share a few options and let the client choose. However, without service data you can't tell which PEO will pick up the phone when payroll breaks. A vetted, side-by-side shortlist means every option you share is one you can stand behind.
“HR costs eat into what my client could save.”
Owners overpaying for benefits, payroll and work comp have less to put toward retirement and reserves. A side-by-side comparison shows the true cost per employee, so savings can go back into the plan.
“My client wants to sell the business in a few years.”
Long PEO terms, exit fees and benefits repricing clauses can complicate a sale. We decode exit terms before your client signs, so the PEO doesn't get in the way of the exit plan.
“Owner benefits don't match the owner's income.”
Small-group plans often limit what owners can offer themselves and key staff. Instead, we compare plan tiers and executive benefit options across PEOs.
“Key employees keep leaving for bigger companies.”
Retention protects business value. A PEO's large-group benefits can help your client keep the people the business depends on, which matters even more ahead of a sale.

How it works
How PEO for financial advisors works:
better options, better service.
Most advisors don't pick one PEO for a client. Instead, they share two or three good options and let the owner decide. PEO Marketplace makes those options better: vetted PEOs compared on service, benefits, 401(k) options, cost and fit, so whichever one your client picks, they're well served.
Discover
Match each client to PEOs that fit
P.A.U.L., our AI PEO assistant, screens 40+ vetted PEOs by size, industry, states, benefits and work comp needs, so you only present PEOs worth your client's time.

Benefits and 401(k) compared

Onboard
A smooth transition
We coordinate census, plan selection and go-live timing, and flag auto-renewals, exit terms and 401(k) changes before your client signs.
Service first
Options your client can choose from
Every PEO is vetted for accreditations, BBB status and NPS, so the options you share are ones you'd trust with your client's business. Referral rewards are available where your compliance rules allow.
What it looks like
A 35-employee client planning an exit
A common picture: an owner five years from selling, a 401(k) you advise on, small-group health plans that keep getting more expensive, and an owner already hearing about PEO savings. Here's how the conversation changes when the advisor brings a vetted PEO comparison. For a real outcome, read our 20-employee nonprofit case study and others like it.

Financial advisor FAQ
PEO for financial advisors:
what advisors ask first.
Reviewed by PEO Marketplace, a licensed Florida insurance agency (#L129491). Last updated October 2026.
How do financial advisors work with PEOs?
A financial planner or wealth advisor can help a business-owner client decide whether a PEO (Professional Employer Organization) fits, check how it affects benefits and the 401(k), and review exit terms. With PEO Marketplace, PEO for financial advisors is simple: you bring the client, we compare 40+ vetted PEOs side by side on service, benefits, cost and fit, and your client chooses from options you trust. New to PEO? Read our guide to what a PEO is.
Will a PEO move my client's 401(k)?
It can. Many PEOs offer their own multiple employer 401(k) plan and may require clients to join it. Others allow a carve-out, so the client keeps its existing plan. Every comparison shows each PEO's 401(k) options.
Do I have to recommend just one PEO?
No. Most advisors share two or three options and let the client choose. We give you a vetted shortlist compared on service, benefits, cost and fit, so every option you share is one you'd be comfortable recommending.
Can financial advisors accept referral fees?
It depends on your registration and firm. RIAs, broker-dealer representatives and insurance-licensed planners follow different compensation and disclosure rules, so check with your compliance team. Advisors who can't, or prefer not to, accept referral rewards can still use PEO Marketplace as a client service.
How do PEO exit terms affect a business sale?
Long initial terms, exit fees and benefits repricing clauses can add cost or delay when a business is sold. Ask whether a sale or merger triggers fees, and get the answer in writing. We decode exit terms in every comparison.
Can a PEO help my client offer better benefits?
Often, yes. A PEO pools employees from many client companies, so small businesses can offer large-group health plans plus dental, vision, life and disability coverage. Plan tiers and costs vary, so every comparison shows them side by side. For industry detail, see how PEOs work for healthcare, technology and law firms, or for small businesses and mid-market companies.
What is a CPEO?
A CPEO is a Certified Professional Employer Organization certified by the IRS. A CPEO takes on liability for federal employment taxes on the wages it pays to worksite employees, and clients can keep certain tax credits. Every comparison shows each PEO's certification.
Can I compare PEOs for a client already on a PEO?
Yes. Many businesses already on a PEO want to know if a better fit is out there. We compare their current PEO against vetted alternatives side by side, and businesses already on a full-service PEO (with health insurance and work comp) qualify for our $500 per employee per year savings guarantee. See real results in our case studies.
Is PEO Marketplace a licensed agency?
Yes. PEO Marketplace is a licensed Florida insurance agency (License #L129491) that only specializes in PEO, and was named a Top U.S. PEO Brokerage of 2026 (#6).
